Opening a Retail Food Establishment:
All new or extensively remodeled facilities are required to submit plans and specifications to the Otero County Health Department before such construction or extensive remodeling is begun or any existing structure is converted for use as a retail food establishment.

Food Safety Courses:
The Otero County Health Department strongly encourages all food service workers and managers to obtain food safety training to understand their role in preventing foodborne illness. This can be accomplished by completing the StateFoodSafety.com Food Handler Course for $10 or the Manager Course for $58 as endorsed by the Otero County Health Department. Both courses are available at any time and will satisfy your food safety training. Upon completing the online course and passing the exam, you will obtain a certificate of course completion available to print and display. If interested, group purchases are also available and can be purchased by calling 801-494-1416. Please see the links below.

Otero County announces reminders for the upcoming general election
La Junta, Colo. - The November 4 General Election is right around the corner and citizens will find voting more convenient and secure than ever before.
Beginning the week of October 14, mail ballots will be sent to all active, registered voters the address on your voter registration. To check or update your voter registration, visitwww.GoVoteColorado.com.
After you fill out your mail ballot, you will sign it and return it by mail or at a ballot drop-off box.
To find the nearest ballot drop-off, visitwww.MyColoradoVote.com. MyColoradoVote.com is a project by the bipartisan Colorado County Clerks Association to provide non-partisan, reliable information for our voters.
Voters wanting the in-person experience may visit any Voter Service and Polling Center in their county. Think of these Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC) as one-stop-shops. You can update your address, request or replace a ballot, vote in-person, use accessible voting equipment or register to vote (through Election Day). To find the nearest Voter Service and Polling Center location, visitwww.MyColoradoVote.com.
