County Attorney – Otero County.
Otero County is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of County Attorney. This is a contract position that performs a wide variety of professional services and serves as the primary legal advisor to the Otero County Board of County Commissioners, other elected officials and department heads. Contractor can expect to bill 400 hours annually on County business. The County provides paralegal/secretarial support and all files, supplies, and copying as well as storage for the files. Areas of practice with relevance to the position include, but are not limited to local government matters; employment and personnel law; housing law; land use and road and bridge issues; construction law; real property law; 1041 matters; water law; open meetings and open records issues; conservation easement law; landfill issues; animal control issues; various issues involving intergovernmental agreements with other political subdivisions; insurance issues and at time, criminal law and bankruptcy law. A Juris Doctorate, current Attorney licensure and registration with the State of Colorado is required. Five years of legal experience is required with legal experience in local government preferred.
